Well it's been a couple of weeks and starting to realise how much stuff we still need to do. The kids are getting really excited now, don't think they even realise that the easter bunny is coming soon!! Well with all this rain around have had to change our trip a bit, so sorry Charleville we won't be able to get to you this time around. So still going anti clockwise and heading straight to Roma. Trying to catch up with everyone before we head off to the great unknown, going to miss everyone terribly, but a good excuse to have a few drinks.
I'm up to the packing and well with the space restrictions, I'm a bit worried, the whole shoe debacle!!!Sure I'll just get to the point where it doesn't matter. Also trying to make a little recipe book with some easy family friendly recipes - that macca's run cauld get a bit expensive after 6 months!! Just kidding. So with the grandparents all skyped up and Michael has done a magiver with wiring the rear camera onto the caravan and car, which he was very pleased with himself, we are nearly there. Thought we had better purchase a dvd player for the kids for those long outback drives, don't worry teachers I will be throwing some maths problems and school work into the drives.
So trying to get as many surfs in as possble, don't think we will be able to pack the surf boards on the trip and well my pink board is as big as a canoe so something has to give. So with under 3 weeks to go hope I haven't bored you all too much...later!!

Hi!
ReplyDeleteJust stumbled across this site and read your story with interest!! I would like to do the same (we have 2 boys 6 and 3) but my main concern is home-schooling - grateful if you could offer any advice/links on how this is all accomplished!!
Have a great trip and I'll be following your posts with interest!
Good luck!
Alan
Hi Alan,
ReplyDeleteNice to hear from you.
Well the schooling thing was a bit daunting at first, but the school really came on board and has given us a loose curriculum to follow. So for us we have some great textbooks through school which we will be following. Which you can obtain through Borders or Edsco at Kedron if you are in Brisbane.
Everyday Spelling
Go Maths
Qld Targeting Maths
We have also been advised to still do readers everyday and to maintain a journal every week.
The thing with home schooling in Qld is you have to register and you can't be enrolled in school at the same time. But if you look up homeschooling there are a number of sites that will help you. Distance education is another but it does cost alot and you generally have to register for the year, and you have to give an itinerary of where you will be and they send infornation, which doesn't really suit us as we wanted to just come and go as we pleased. Plus we had already payed school fees and an extra fee didn't make sense. It really depends on how long you are going for?
I hope that is of some help and I haven't confused you too much.
Cheers,
Tam
